Write down your answers to these questions.
What are the benefits you will experience with weight loss? Your list can be as long or short as you need it to be. It can include reasons that are physical, psychological, or emotional. Your reasons could include fitting back into your favorite old pair of jeans, getting off a medication for pre-diabetes, or to lose weight before a reunion. Whatever your reasons are, write them down.
Now, it’s time to really reflect on what you are willing to do, and what it will take to make your weight loss happen.
Weight loss doesn’t happen instantly, it does not happen without making an effort, and it does not happen without making sacrifices to your current lifestyle. Are you willing to revamp the way you eat? Try a weight loss program that provides food for you? How often are you willing to exercise?
There it is, right in front of you. On paper.
The cost and benefit of your weight loss journey.
Now, you can commit.
What you have in front of you is actually the beginning of a contract with yourself. It is a document outlining the benefits of weight loss. It also includes a weight loss plan of sorts.
Finish your contract.
Add in the total amount of weight that you want to lose. Pick a date to reach that goal. (Be reasonable. Most people can safely lose an average of 1- 2 pounds per week while working on their weight loss goal.)
Sign your contract.
Now, you are ready to start your weight loss journey.
