I am currently 50 years of age. My fitness level has been below average most of my adult life. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in March of 2008. This limited the activity I had and resulted in quite a bit of weight gain.
After I was diagnosed with MS, I was put on medicine which kept it under control until 2011. Many symptoms appeared, some depression and withdrawal occurred in social situations too. The straw that broke the camel’s back was that my neurologist suggested I look at motorized wheelchairs to combat my decreased mobility. At that point, I decided that was not going to be me.
In July of 2015, my wife and I decided to join the HMR weight management program at Milestone. (Of course, we made sure my neurologist approved it prior to starting the program.) We have been in HMR and exercising ever since. Gioia Gibbons (HMR Health Educator) has been so helpful at HMR. Andrew Crowe (Personal Trainer) has been invaluable as my workout coach. At this point, I’ve lost 158 pounds! My blood pressure is normal, blood sugar is normal. I sleep much better and I’m not wheelchair dependent at this point in my life due to MS. I thank you Milestone and HMR!
