What brought you to Milestone:

I originally joined Milestone when it was the great new gym in St. Matthews Station.   With the exception of the 2 years when I lived out of town, and a year while recovering from back surgery, I have been a member ever since.

What exercise activities do you participate in at Milestone?

Currently, I do a lot of the classes.  In a typical week, I do Annie’s Full Body class, Blakey’s Step Interval classes, Trish’s OMG and Power Jam,  Jeff’s Body Breakthrough and Power Sculpt, and  a couple of Pilates groups with Amanda.   From time to time, I mix it up and do a spin class, a shred class,  a tabata class, or a sweat class.  Not only do these classes offer a great work out,  they are a lot of fun with a great group of people!!

Exercise aside,  I take advantage of some of the great services offered by the Oasis Spa.

Notable Staff Members:

There are many.  Blakey, Jeff, Annie, and Trish all bring something a little different to the table.  All offer challenging work outs, great music, and great fun, each in their own way.  This keeps it interesting and never boring.

Nancy Carroll introduced me to Pilates about 4 years ago. Prior to this, I never really new what my core was.  I thought my core was my abs.  Come to find out the core includes all of the muscles above the knees and below the shoulders.   Many of these are muscles that I had no idea I even had.  Strengthening all of these muscles has made a difference in everything I do.   Not only does Pilates strengthen, but it also lengthens.  Amazingly enough, I have “grown” ½ inch.  Having always measured 5’ 3” since I was 12 years old,  It was quite surprising to find that a age 46, I began measuring 5’ 3.5” and have ever since!!  While Nancy is no longer teaching at Milestone, I am grateful for all that I learned from her.

Motivations to get in shape:

First and foremost, I love to eat!!   Exercise increases my metabolism, and allows me to eat what I want to.    Secondly, exercise helps to keep me strong and healthy.   Thirdly, exercise is a great stress reliever.  I am a much happier and nicer person after I’ve had a great workout!
