Posted by Monica Resch on Friday, February 03, 2017

Dr. PK Cherian is a full-time Cardiologist at the Norton Hospitals in Louisville. He is 72 years old. He is also an avid hip hop dancer. His personal trainer, Alison Cardoza, teaches him new dances during their training sessions 3x/week and he practices on his own many hours throughout the week. He is a well-known member of Alison's group-exercise hip hop class on Fridays @ 4:30pm. How to Set Fitness Goals

Posted by Chelsea Grover on Tuesday, January 03, 2017
Goal Setting:
1. Write down your goals on a piece of paper you can look at every day.
2. Set measurable goals: with deadlines.
3. Set smaller goals to reach your bigger ones. Weekly workouts or runs to reach your marathon goal. Drink 8 glasses of water a day to boost metabolism for weight loss, etc.
4. Surround yourself with people that support you and your goals. You can't have negativity bringing you down.
5. Find a workout group, buddy, or trainer. Everyone needs accountability. I train with one of our trainers once a week.
6. Don't overwhelm yourself. Pick 3-5 goals for the year.
7. Miracles and dreams don't become reality overnight. It's the day-in day-out work that goes into something that when you finally reach it, that makes it great. Small changes make big differences.

You cannot beat the person that doesn't give up.
If one day isn't perfect, get back in the saddle and get going again.

Member of the Month - Beth MacCracken

My 70th birthday was fast approaching when a casual invitation for brunch at one of my favorite restaurants came from my daughters.  My husband said he would like to join us and since we all often meet a Blue Dog, I didn’t think about anything about it. As we enjoyed our meal and cup of tea I was given a beautifully decorated planning notebook and travel book on the Languedoc-Roussillon region. My surprise birthday gift was to be a trip to France at the time of my choosing with my daughters.  My husband’s interests lie elsewhere; so this was to be a girls’ trip with my two grown daughters.  What a gift!

Accountability...

Posted by Brittney Smith on Tuesday, November 01, 2016

Today we are going to talk about accountability. As we all know too well, it is hard to maintain motivation for fitness. Our lives move quickly and if we do not have something to hold us accountable, many times we will let our goals slip away. There are many ways to keep ourselves accountable. We will discuss three things that I have seen work in the past.
