Episode 1: Lori Mangum Gets #FitToFly

Posted by Lauren Higgins on Monday, April 08, 2019

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to sky dive.

Which is kind of weird for a girl who used to take a deep breath before jumping off the short retaining wall with her brother as a kid. I just don’t like falling. But somehow skydiving is different. Even though it’s a serious fall, it’s also an incredible one minute of FLIGHT.

How Mindful Eating Can Help Manage Diabetes

Posted by Dr. Jan Anderson on Monday, December 03, 2018

A diagnosis of diabetes can feel like a death sentence.  I remember observing the faces of the participants in a diabetes education program, as the nutritionist described how to gain control of their blood glucose by controlling portions and by eating more nominally- processed foods and fewer sweets, sugary beverages and processed baked goods.

“Changing your lifestyle may feel like a lot of work, but when you consider the health consequences of diabetes, it’s worth the time and effort,” she explained. Although the participants were aware of the need to make changes, I sensed that many of them questioned their ability to do it.  Why? Because many of them translated the successful management of diabetes to mean dieting, deprivation and giving up the foods they enjoyed.

Personal Training Highlight | Chanda Day

Posted by Monica Resch on Tuesday, June 26, 2018

From observing Brenna, I felt she was a trainer who would challenge me. When I began working with her, I was looking for some new ideas to add into my workout routine.  I did not anticipate what a huge positive effect she would make not only to my fitness regimen, but also to my overall health.  She has provided lots of new, interesting exercises that I have incorporated into my workouts. In addition, she educated me on how to construct workouts that are impactful and time-efficient.  I have always been dedicated to working out.  With Brenna’s help, I am now more organized and productive.

Lena Hartlage - Personal Training Highlight

Posted by Monica Resch on Thursday, February 22, 2018

My name is Lena Hartlage and since January of 2017, I have lost over 80 pounds and more than 30% of my starting body fat percentage!  My weight has been an issue I’ve battled my whole life- from the 3rd grade when I wasn’t allowed in a club because there was a weight restriction; to a college graduate struggling to find professional clothes for a plus-sized woman.  Dieting and exercising to lose weight have been a part of my life since I was a teenager.  Each time I would have a small amount of success followed by gaining the weight back and then some.

When I made the decision a little over a year ago, to finally commit to improving my health, I can honestly say it was the best decision I’ve ever made.  It has been a rough year, each day with new challenges and obstacles, but between the support of my loved ones and my own determination, I have achieved success.

5 Reasons Men Are Afraid to Try Yoga, But Should

Posted by Monica Resch on Wednesday, December 20, 2017

Yoga has become more prevelant in popular culture over the past few years, with many studios and yoga-related brands popping up.  Yoga is now recommended by many physicians as a healthy practice for both men and women.  However, when you look at the yoga community, it is disproportionately female.  This may be because most men think it's only for women.

Posted by Miranda Mercke on Wednesday, December 13, 2017

Does the word, ‘cardio’ just sound awful, time consuming, maybe even dreadful to you? There are many people out there who hate doing cardio because they find it to be boring, time consuming, or monotonous.
